Following the national state of emergency that has been declared in Ecuador as the result of the devastation caused by the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake, PokerStars is once again partnering with CARE International to help them give aid to the survivors who need it and are asking for players help and support but donating what they can.

At the time of writing the death toll in Ecuador has risen above 650 with at least 130 people still missing. The president has declared eight days of national mourning as this is reportedly the “worst tragedy to hit the South American nation in decades.”

How to Donate

If you would like to donate to the cause, PokerStars has set up a page where you can use 2,000 StarsCoin to make a $20 donation or you can go directly to the CARE International website.

With thousands of injured, every donation will go to help the people of Ecuador.

CARE International is a humanitarian organization providing disaster relief and fighting poverty around the world, who have emergency teams on the ground working to ensure survivors have access to basic life-saving support. With your donation, you will be helping PokerStars make sure CARE can issue relief on the ground, to the Ecuadorian people.

Ongoing Charitable Support

PokerStars also worked with CARE International during the Nepalese humanitarian crisis last year which saw two massive earthquakes tear through the heart of Nepal.

The response was overwhelming with PokerStars players and staff ultimately donating $255,447.47, that PokerStars matched—meaning over half a million USD was raised to help the people of Nepal.

PokerStars has also helped raise money for the under privileged in Brazil and most recently is working with Autism Speaks in New Jersey.

The poker community is no stranger to charitable giving as charitable efforts can be seen from everything from local fundraisers to World Series of Poker events such as The Big One for One Drop, that in previous years has raised nearly $5 million to provide clean water to those in need.
