Former WPT Champion Ali Tekintamgac Sentenced in Germany for Cheating

Takintamgac receives more than 3 years in prison by German authorities.

  • 2010 WPT Barcelona winner Ali Tekintamgac was sentenced to three years and five months in prison in Germany Friday for his participation in a poker cheating ring that spanned several countries and employed a number of conspirators.
  • German investigators are still searching for an alleged accomplice in the poker cheating ring—Kadir Karabulut.

PokerStars Changes FPP Satellite Policy

Cash game players disgruntled at losing a popular way to get the most value from their FPPs.

  • PokerStars has changed its policy for tournament satellites where players buy in for Frequent Player Points (FPP).
  • As of July 14, players who win tournaments seats through these satellites are no longer able to un-register from the event.
  • The move most affects cash game players below the VIP status of Supernova, who were effectively able to exchange their FPPs for a higher rate than that available in the PokerStars VIP store.
