The WSOP’s November 9 has been settled, and since that final day of the Main Event the online high stakes cash games have been producing some enticing action.


French Regulator Authorizes Amaya/PokerStars Deal

ARJEL greenlights “change of indirect control” of PokerStars’ French subsidiary.

  • ARJEL approves ownership change, ruling that it would not affect “its technical, economic and financial capacity to carry out its activity.”
  • Along with its primary licenses in the Isle of Man and Malta, from where it operates its dot-com and dot-eu sites, PokerStars holds regional licenses in Europe, including France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Denmark.
  • France is the only market where the online poker giant is not the market leader.

PokerStars Reverses FPP Satellite Policy

Poker room will “revisit policy”—and expects another change by the end of the year.

  • PokerStars has reversed its recent decision to stop players from unregistering from events won through satellites purchased with frequent player points.
  • This common system, seen as a loophole to some, allowed players to get maximum value from their FPP points, even if their VIP tier was below SuperNova.
  • Two issues arose which prompted PokerStars to revisit the issue.

Partypoker Unveils Swipe-Friendly Fast-Fold Mobile App

FastForward: Special Edition introduces new “patent-pending swipe-based interface” for fast online poker play.

  • Rather than using the normal bet, raise and fold buttons, players use swipe and tap gestures to indicate their action.
  • A swipe off the cards indicates a fold; a double-tap on the screen is a check.
  • Currently available in four markets and soon to be available as a browser-based app in all markets soon.
