Final Regulatory Approval Paves the Way for 888 All American Poker Network in Nevada

Approved plan allows sharing of player pools between multiple online poker operators.

  • The Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) approved a plan late last week that would enable Nevada online poker operators to combine player pools.
  • Under the plan, the player pool at WSOP.com Nevada could be combined with Treasure Island when they eventually go live.

Nevada Online Poker Revenues Up 20% in June

  • Online poker revenues for the state of Nevada had an exceptional month in June due in large part to the 2014 World Series of Poker.
  • Overall revenues for online poker picked up 20.3% to $1,037,000 from May figures of $862,000 according to a report released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
  • June marks the first time online poker revenues in Nevada have exceeded the $1,000,000 mark since regulators began releasing revenue figures.

Political Contributions by Las Vegas Sands Approach Record Numbers in an Effort to Stop Regulated Online Poker in the US

Through the first six months, $460,000 in donations have resulted in two federal anti-online gambling bills.

  • The Las Vegas Sands has spent $460,000 on lobbying to ban online gambling in the first six months of the year, according to a report from OpenSecrets.org.
  • The amount falls just $10,000 short of the total political contributions made by the Las Vegas Sands in all of 2008—the year it spent the most on lobbying.
  • The money is a drop in the ocean of Sheldon Adelson’s political contributions during the last election cycle in 2012. Numbers released by the Federal Election Commission show $92 million in donations by Adelson and his wife Miriam.
