WSOP Warns Non-US Players: Bring Proof of Address

Anti-money laundering regulations are behind the requirement according to WSOP’s Seth Palansky.

  • The implementation of US anti-money laundering regulations means that players at this year’s WSOP will be required to show a photo ID and provide proof of their address.
  • The WSOP said that the inability to prove residency would not prevent players from playing in WSOP events, but will prevent them from withdrawing funds after playing online while they are in Nevada.

Online Gaming Conference Positive About California Poker

Hurdles remain but tribal support for legislation provides momentum.

  • The Capitol Weekly “Conference on Online Gaming” held on May 22 continued the mood of inevitability about regulated online poker coming to California.
  • There was considerable debate about “bad actor” clauses, mainly centering on whether PokerStars should be considered eligible to receive a license.
