Another source of print news for the poker world finds the financial pressures too tough to continue.

  • After more than 30 years, the Poker Player Newspaper has ended its print edition.
  • Owner Stan Sludikoff will continue to publish news on the website but is also interested in offers for the business.

EPT Extends Partnership with PokerTracker

PokerTracker reps to be on hand at EPT Season 11 events.

  • The European Poker Tour will team up with PokerTracker 4 for the second year in a row, according to a new deal announced by EPT representatives Wednesday.
  • PokerTracker 4 representatives will be on hand during EPT Season 11 events to promote and provide demonstrations of their product as part of the agreement.
  • EPT Season 11 kicks off in Barcelona this August when it will celebrate the 100th EPT.

AGA Withdraws from the Battle for Internet Gambling

Sheldon Adelson’s opposition to online gambling has split the AGA.

  • American Gaming Association (AGA) Chief Executive Geoff Freeman has announced that it will no longer actively support online gambling legislation.
  • The AGA split on the issue as its richest member Sheldon Adelson, initiated a campaign to oppose online gambling in every US state.
  • The absence of the AGA’s voice in support of the campaign to restore online poker to the whole of the United States is unlikely to make a real difference. Individual members will continue to support political initiatives which support new legislation.

Reports from Malta suggest that the bank has a global policy to stop its credit and debit cards being used for internet gambling. HSBC has extended its block on gambling transactions according to a report in the Malta Independent.
