  • Fox estimates that Riess with his $8,359.531 in winnings is going to have to shell out roughly $3,478,818 to the IRS.
  • Jay Farber, who collected $5,174,357 for his runner up finish is expected to owe about $2,026,527 to the US government.
  • The IRS is looking to take in $8,626,311 dollars, a total larger than the initial pre-tax first place prize money.

PPA Meets DOJ to Discuss Full Tilt Remissions Process, UltimateBet and Absolute Poker Cases

First Full Tilt remission checks should go out at the end of the first quarter of 2014. 80% of the 35,000 claims had been accepted by players.

  • The PPA has held a conference call with the DOJ.
  • The PPA received advice that pushing for fraud charges against AP/UP could help players get reimbursed.
  • Rich Muny cautioned that players getting money for losses on AP/UB is still a longshot.
  • The DOJ reported on the progress of the Full Tilt Remissions process and said that checks could go out at the end of Q1 of 2014.

GPI and Living It, Loving It Support €10k “Player of Series” Event at Prague Poker Festival

The special leaderboard will have a minimum €10k prize pool to be split between the top three finishers.

  • GPI and Living it Loving it have put up a €10k prize pool for a Player of the Series tournament at the Prague Poker Festival.

UK Quarterly Survey Reports 15% Participation in Online Gambling

Total gambling participation 2% down on last year. The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) carries out a quarterly survey entitled: “Gambling participation: activities and mode of access.” As new laws and taxes are to be introduced next year, the survey provides a useful baseline from which the impact of the new laws can be measured.
