Garden City Group Issues Round Two of Full Tilt Poker Remission Payments

$81 million has now been returned to ex-FTP players in the United States.

  • Approximately 2,200 payments totaling about $5 million were distributed to victims of Full Tilt Poker on Tuesday in the second round of payments.
  • Players that received payments in this round were those that had been approved for payment in the first round but had incorrect banking information on file with the GCG.
  • Those that failed to update their banking information by the deadline will be mailed checks to the address on file with the GCG.

Unibet Adds “Challenges” VIP System in Latest Upgrade

Cash game players get points for completing “steps” rather than for total rake paid in the newly released VIP scheme.

  • Unibet’s latest software upgrade has implemented its innovative “Challenges” VIP system.
  • As players complete “steps” they are awarded points based on the stake level they are playing.
  • Other features of the upgrade include the facility to spectate at a table, a new table background, and the ability to open a hand history directly from the table. A few software bugs have also been fixed..

LGA Issues Public Warning About NetStronger Online Poker Network

NetStronger advertises that it is regulated by the LGA, but the LGA calls that claim “false and misleading.”

  • The Maltese Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has issued a public information notice saying that “the website www.netstronger.com has no connection with the Authority.”
  • The network itself is owned by Beproga Ltd, a company which does hold a Class 4 license from the LGA.
  • It is possible that Beproga has been remiss in not registering the NetStronger network with the LGA, or misunderstood the scope of its own Class 4 license.
  • Until the situation is clarified, players should exercise caution before playing on the network.

Comcast Denies Bovada Block

Reports of players being unable to access Bovada have nothing to do with Comcast, says ISP.

  • The issue reported yesterday of Comcast users being unable to access the Bovada site is not the result of Comcast blocking a poker room.
  • An email from Comcast’s National Engineering & Technical Operations denies their responsibility.

Two men and a woman accused of burglary turned violent. The UK poker community was stunned last week when word spread of the death of well-known poker player, casino regular and father-of-three, Mehmet Hassan. Yesterday, three individuals, 2 men and a young woman, were charged at Highbury Magistrate’s Court with his murder.
