Hundreds More Sites Blocked in Russian Online Gambling Crackdown

Blacklist in Russia expanded with the domains of big European operators.

Late last month, approximately 50 online gambling domains were added to the list.
Three weeks later, the list was substantially upgraded with 200 more sites.
Following the first wave of online gambling domains added to the Roskomnadzor, multiple poker rooms took steps back from the market.
In a statement issued to pokerfuse, a Rational Group representative said it would continue to serve the Russian market.

New ARJEL Boss: Online Poker “Fad” is Over

The economic crisis in France and the complexity of poker as a game are blamed for the poker market’s underperformance.

New President of French regulator ARJEL takes a different line to his predecessor in explaining the decline of online poker.
He concludes that the lack of interest in online poker is because the “the fad is over. Basically, the online poker market may be mature.”
Charles Coppolani plans to focus on preventing gambling problems and tackling the non-French licensed operators targeting the market.

Gibraltar Fire Takes 75% Toll on partypoker Traffic

Betvictor kept services going using a back-up generator, but other Gibraltar-based companies suffered traffic falls during the power outage.

The fire at a Gibraltar power station on Saturday had a major impact on holiday weekend poker traffic for operators based on the “Rock”.
Cash game traffic statistics show that partypoker lost over 75% of its business on the day.
iPoker traffic fell, but only by around 20%—many of its operators, such as PaddyPower and Bet365, are not based in Gibraltar.
