  • A study from the Italian Institute Bruno Leoni, “Gambling: More Taxes, Less Income,” has advised that high gaming taxes are counter-productive. The study argues that they reduce government tax revenues and reduce consumer protection.
  • The advice the authors give to government is to reduce taxes in order to “recapture the legal industry” bring players back from the gray market and stop “pushing the most vulnerable to lawlessness.”

Playtech Says Farewell to Belgium

Non-BGC licensed iPoker skins quit Belgium today.

  • From today, Playtech customers in Belgium will no longer be able to play poker on any non-Belgian licensed iPoker poker room or place a bet on any Playtech brand or product.
  • Emails from William Hill and Coral Interactive explain that “this decision has been taken for regulatory reasons beyond our control.” According to the emails, customers will be able to access their accounts and withdraw their funds.
