The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Returns with a $10m Guarantee for the Main Event

The 2013 $5,300 buy in Main Event drew in over $12m of prize money using a multi-day re-entry format.

  • The Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open tournament series starts on August 14 bringing 23 events to the Florida casino, including a repeat of last year’s inaugural $10m guaranteed Main Event.
  • The Hard Rock Poker Open will also feature the award of the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Player of the Year.
  • The 2013 Main Event crushed its guarantee with a final prize pool of over $12m which paid out $1.7m to the eventual winner Blair Hinkle.

New Jersey Regulator Demands Removal of Affiliate Links to Unlicensed Online Poker Rooms

Six affiliate and rakeback websites have been threatened with fines.

  • The “immediate removal” of links associated with unlicensed online poker sites demanded from six affiliate sites.
  • Sites warned include PokerSource.com, RaketheRake.com, CardsChat.com, Pokersites.com and RakeBrain.com.
  • “These illegal sites do not offer the same protections to players and we do not want these unregulated sites being promoted with our legal, regulated sites.”.

Milestone Hands Return to PokerStars

The most consistently successful promotion in poker returns for a 300 million hand stretch, with $700k to be given away.

  • PokerStars has started a new Milestone Hand promotion independent of its normal ten billionth hand markers.
  • From May 19 and for the next 299 million hands, PokerStars will hand out a total of $600k in bonus cash for players dealt into each millionth hand.
  • Following the innovation introduced for the 100 billionth hand, players sat at the same game and stake as the 300 millionth hand will share $100k—a total of $700k will therefore be distributed.
