The DGOJ report—which was published much later than expected—continues to list online poker as the most popular form of online gambling, with 40% of online gamblers playing the game—a total of 2.24 million active players.

The majority of companies in the online market make losses 78% of those play cash games, and 22% tournaments. The high proportion of bets returned as winnings to players meant that poker contributed just 3% of total gaming revenues.
