The Poker Edge, Filthy Limper and 2 Guys Talking Poker: The Week in Poker Podcasts
On The Poker Edge podcast last week, Andrew Feldman welcomes two-time $50k Players’ Championship winner Michael Mizrachi and first time bracelet winner David “ODB” Baker.
On the poker podcast, Mizrachi talks about his experience at the final table of the 2012 Players’ Championship where he made quick business of the competition and in doing so boosted his lifetime career earnings to $14m.
The conversation got really interesting when Mizrachi revealed that he has somewhere between 15% and 20% of himself for The Big One. He also talks about his decision to enter the One Drop tournament and when he actually decided.
Feldman then welcomed the Original David Baker to the show. ODB talked about his heads up battle for his first bracelet, the gave some advice on mix game tournament strategy. And to close out the show, Andrew checks in with Gary Wise reporting live from the WSOP where all the buzz is about the Big One for One Drop.
The guys over on the Filthy Limper poker podcast had an interesting conversation that revolved around ethics. The discussion started out as Johnny told a story about almost receiving unsolicited help from a dealer in an attempt to hit a bad beat jackpot. But then the topic turned to a how-much-would-it-take discussion about spending time in prison. Tune in and find out which one of the guys thinks they are “prison rapeable.”
Later in the show Brandon lets the listeners in on all the dirt that surrounds Teddy “Iceman” Monroe. The word on the streets in Vegas is that Teddy has been banned from a number of properties. Tune in and find out why Brandon felt the need to distance himself from the Iceman on both a personal and professional level.
The show continues with Brandon informing the listeners of the new law in Nevada that imposes a tax on comps and speculates on how players will be impacted by the change.
Like many others in the poker world, the guys take on the controversial topic of men playing in the WSOP Ladies event. And you won’t want to miss the segment where the guys discuss the best table game to play in Vegas where your money will last the longest and your rating by the casino will earn you the most comps.
As the poker world’s eyes are focused on the WSOP, 2 Guys Talking Poker inform poker fans of a way they can get there next year. The guys tell the listeners how they can create and structure their own poker club where the winners of the league earn entries into a WSOP event.
They discuss the balance between tournament payouts and sending members to Vegas for the series. And, they reveal a way to keep players at all skill levels interested no matter what their position in the pecking order. Andy’s club gives all its participants a sweat by distributing pieces of the action. Listen to the poker podcast to learn more.
That’s all for this week. As usual, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other poker podcasts for my listening pleasure.
