The hearing on the Restoration of America’s Wire Act is scheduled to take place today. The witness list was finally released earlier this week and includes all of the names previously leaked to the media with the addition of the Executive Director and Senior Fellow of R Street, Andrew Moylan.

Though PPA Executive Director John Pappas was not invited to testify at the congressional hearing on HR 707, he submitted unsolicited testimony for members of the committee to consider. The testimony covered such topics as the history and original purpose of the Wire Act, the track record of regulated online gaming across the world and in the US, consumer protections, geolocation technology and money laundering.

Last week more organizations lined up to oppose RAWA including the Democratic Governors Association and several state chapters of the Fraternal Order of Police.

This morning the Poker Players Alliance held a technical demonstration on Capitol Hill to exhibit that the technology involved in online gaming provides for a safe and protected playing environment.
