Online poker will face its next big test in California on Wednesday when the California Assembly Governmental Organization Committee and the Senate Governmental Organization Committee hold a joint hearing on the Overview of Gambling in California-Legality, Authorization and Regulation.

Online poker is expected to be widely discussed at the hearing as the two leaders of the committees—State Senator Isadore Hall and Assemblyman Adam Gray—are also sponsors of companion online poker bills.

Though the bills are nearly void of detail, and are currently serving as placeholders, input received at hearings such as the one to take place on Wednesday will serve to provide direction for future amendments and revisions to the bills.
