The first quarter report from Loto-Québec provides an insight into the company’s well leaked interest in forming a contract with PokerStars to increase revenues from its state gambling license.

Profits are down on a like for like basis against Q1 of 2013, and have fallen 22% over five years. The company has also lost heavily on an investment in French operator JOA Groupe.

In June, spokesperson for Loto-Québec, Marie-Claude Rivet, said it had opened talks with Amaya, also based in Montreal, Québec. The pair already have an existing agreement. Although the talks were described as being in their “infancy” the intention was to find ways to increase revenues for the state licensed operator.
