Speculation about possible buyers for bwin.party has moved from a possible Amaya bid to one by a different Canadian gaming company, Intertain.

Intertain, like Amaya, is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and exists as a holding company for its subsidiary brands including InterCasino, InterPoker and Costa Bingo.

The company, which offers casino, bingo and poker with its biggest business being DC Comics superhero themed online slots, issued a trading statement Monday that had a striking resemblance to bwin.party’s trading update last week. It neither confirmed nor denied the rumor.

“Strategic acquisitions have been and are one component of the company’s growth strategy and, as such, Intertain regularly evaluates potential acquisition opportunities,” reads the statement, adding only that, “from time to time, this process leads to discussions with potential acquisition targets.”
