An autopsy performed by Slovenian police concluded that poker player Johannes Strassmann had ingested some form of illegal substances shortly before his untimely death late last month at the age of 29.

Police spokesperson Nataša Pučko told Bild.de, “Ingredients in his body fluids were detected, which are included in prohibited drugs.” Police cited two substances classified as illegal were discovered in Strassmann’s body but declined to specify any further according to the report.

An eyewitness that saw Strassmann in the bars the night he disappeared told Bild.de that the group Strassmann was with included “a notorious drug dealer” and that they had been eating a hallucinogenic drug commonly referred to as magic mushrooms.

The witness also noted that at 10pm that evening, Strassmann abruptly left the establishment leaving his mobile phone behind.

Strassmann’s body was eventually discovered in the Ljublianica River following a week long search for the poker star who had been reported missing.

Strassmann was a PokerStars Team Pro who was proficient in both live and online poker.

He accrued over $1.5 million in live poker tournament earnings over his career, according to The Hendon Mob database and had coached 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Pius Heinz in the break before the November Nine reconvened to crown a champion.
