- Last Thursday, Representative Joe Barton introduced HR 2888, The Internet Poker Freedom Act of 2015, his third attempt to legalize online poker via federal legislation.
- The bill respects state’s rights by allowing them to choose whether they will participate in offering online poker to its citizens. It also includes a number of protections for tribal rights and for preexisting online gambling activities such as online lotteries.
- The bill also includes aggressive consumer protection features, including a ban on using credit cards to fund player accounts, and making the use of “bots” illegal.
