APT Korea Crowns A Champion
Key Takeaways
  • Lifeng Shen bested the sit-and-go sized field of 45 to take home the trophy and the $35,300 first place prize.
  • Shen defeated Johnny Chan heads up to win the tournament.

This weekend the 2013 Asian Poker Tour Korea crowned Lifeng Shen the champion of its $2700 buyin Main Event held at the Ramada Casino in Jeju, South Korea. Shen bested the sit-and-go sized field of 45 to take home the trophy and the $35,300 first place prize.

Despite the smaller field size, it would be no easy task for the China native, for when it came down to heads-up play he found himself sitting across the felt from none other than poker legend and back-to-back World Series of Poker champion Johnny Chan.

In a classic confrontation, Shen shipped it all-in with AK into Chan’s QQ. With an ace in the window, and no help to be found for the pocket pair, Shen celebrated his victory in what would be only the second live tournament of his young career.

The Asian Poker Tour returns in October with APT Asian Series Manila to take place at Resorts World Manila.
