“Now part of the international iPoker network, we are constantly finding ways to improve the player experience for our large existing customer base in Sweden.” Svenska Spel, the Swedish-based gaming company offering online poker and other gaming verticals, has become the latest operator to join the resurgent iPoker network.
The migration was carried out on May 1, PRO understands.
Until last month, the site was running on the IGT poker platform under a segregated network, with the player pool confined to online poker players in Sweden. The switch to the iPoker network finally marks an end to its long-run small, independent operation, giving its players access to a wider global player pool with a broader game selection and bigger tournament prize pools.
Immediately after the transition, iPoker’s cash game traffic soared by nearly 40%, peaking at over 1700 concurrent seats — a level last seen eight years ago. However, the traffic has fallen since then and is hovering around 1450 — but still up by 16%.
Svenska Spel’s partnership with Playtech dates back to 2020 when the duo inked a deal that saw Playtech provide its extensive portfolio of online casino and live games to the Swedish regulated market.
“We are delighted to be expanding our very successful partnership with Svenska Spel and increasing our presence across Sweden,” said Marat Koss, VP of Interactive Gaming, Playtech in a press release. “This is a positive outcome from our investments in poker, as renewed licensees such as Svenska Spel are choosing us for further collaboration. We are delighted to welcome Svenska Spel to the iPoker family.”
