RAWA Hearing

A hearing on the Restoration of the Wire Act (RAWA) was held last week in front of the House Sub-Committee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations. As expected, the event was strongly biased in favor of igaming opponents, and misinformation was the theme of the day.

One witness, John Kindt, Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois School of Law, even went as far as to quote a 15-year-old study on internet security to substantiate his position. Though internet security expert Parry Aftab did her best to educate the subcommittee on modern technology, it was clear that the subcommittee had little interest in facts.
