Poker Programming in the US

Mainstream audiences in the US are seeing an increase in poker related programming as of late. In recent weeks, NBC Sports has been airing episodes of the Celebrity Poker Showdown in which the winner of a celebrity tournament takes on a professional poker player for $1 million. The final episode is scheduled to air tonight.

In the past week we have also seen Phil Hellmuth’s debut on Twitch, and PokerStars sponsored pro Jason Somerville ink a new two-year deal with the up-and-coming social media platform.

These two high profile players have also signed on with Poker Night in America as commentators for their latest tour. Episodes are scheduled to begin airing early in 2016.

Fall programming in the US will also include coverage of the 2015 World Series of Poker on ESPN and the premier of Poker Central, a new network devoted entirely to poker.
