Las Vegas Sands has ended it lobbying efforts in Florida, it has been confirmed. The company had planned on building a luxury resort in South Florida. Company spokesperson Andy Abboud cited resistance from the Seminole tribes as the reason for the pull out.
There has been no recent progress reported publicly between state lawmakers and the Seminoles over the now-expired provisions of the gaming compact. Online poker advocate Martin Shapiro believes that internet poker could help facilitate a compromise between the government and gaming interests in Florida.
