The last installment of Traffic Insight was optimistic that the market had not yet hit its seasonal peak, but since then, cash game traffic has continued to fall, this week by 2.4%. Now that the market is 4.3% below its January 11 peak of 41,809 occupied seats, it seems that our optimism was misplaced.
The US state regulated markets follow a different seasonal pattern, and end of month effects in Sweden distort its short term moving averages, but otherwise, the markets seem to have returned to a downwards trend.
The global rankings have adopted a different appearance to previous years, with the top five poker rooms/networks currently include Bodog in 4th place, PokerStars Italy in 5th and Winamax in 6th. Previous top five stalwarts like partypoker and Full Tilt appear to have been relegated to lesser standing—partypoker is currently ranked 7th and Full Tilt is at its lowest ranking since PokerStars restored the brand, in 12th position.
