Online poker legislation advanced through the California Assembly Appropriations Committee last week, but the issue of suitability is still a sticking point for a small coalition of tribes led by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians.

Prior to the passage of AB 2853, the Pechanga tribe attempted to sway public opinion through the use of a push poll and subsequent media coverage. The tribe and its cohorts tried to advance the narrative that citizens of California are against legalizing online poker.
