There is a particular feel-good aspect to the story, as neither player is considered an out-and-out professional: one is a rapper from South America, and the other, a fairytale winner of a PokerStars showcase event in 2019.
CBS Sports will also be pleased with such an engaging narrative. The broadcaster is hosting coverage of the world’s most famous poker tournament for the first time since the mid-1970s. The event has provided both CBS and PokerStars with just the kind of publicity they would have been hoping for, after a torrid two years for live poker, and sports in general.
