GGPoker has expanded its reach in the newly launched Dutch gambling market as it partners with the country’s largest poker community, the Open Nederlands Kampioenschap Poker (ONK), or Dutch Open Poker Championship.

It marks the operator’s second local partner in the country since its regulated market launch in October.

Established by Mathijs Jonkers, the country manager for GGPoker, and Evert-Jan van Ijzendoor, ONK is a championship series that takes place in the Netherlands every year. It comprising preliminary rounds, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, culminating in a national final event.

It made its debut in 2015 under the name The Dutch Amateur Poker Championship (NAKP) and attracted 4600 participants. Following its overwhelming success, the tour had its name changed to the Dutch Open.

Due to local regulations, the series does not offer any monetary prizes for participants. Instead, players can win prestigious titles and get sponsorship deals.

Despite no real-money prizes, ONK is quite popular with players and has been growing in size each year.
