Italy

The two bills to ban gambling advertising in the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate are now both being scrutinized by the relevant financial committee.

A separate motion has been presented in the Senate demanding that the government introduce a new licensing condition that would oblige operators to agree not to advertise. Only operators who accept the condition would be considered for a new license when the current licenses expire in 2016.

Despite the high level of political support for an advertising ban, neither of the bills nor the proposed new licensing condition are likely to end up as law.
