Colombia

The Colombian regulator Coljuegos has begun a consultation on online gambling regulation in advance of implementing new laws to regulate remote gambling.

Three documents have been produced dealing with technical requirements, gaming regulation and a data model for reporting.

Gambling taxes are set at 17% and 15% depending on the percentage of bets returned to players, and most online gambling activities are permitted bar betting on horseraces.

The responsible gaming elements are particularly interesting, requiring operators to conduct a historical analysis of a player’s behavior whenever the player requests an increase in pre-set loss limits. If the operator finds evidence of behaviour linked to problem gambling the request must be refused.
