Gaming giant Flutter will close its Betfair online gambling brand on September 30 in the Netherlands, one day ahead of new regulatory law coming into effect. It is expected to seek licensing for PokerStars and focus its Dutch customer base on this single brand.

As first reported by Dutch gaming news site CasinoNieuws, the company recently informed customers in the region that it would close all Betfair operations, meaning shutting its famous exchange along with its regular sports book, casino, and online poker room on the iPoker network, at the end of the month.

The new regulatory system in the Netherlands comes into force on October 1. All existing operators in the country must obtain a license by this date or exit the market while their applications are processed.
