With this year’s Road To Vegas, we’re going to see more GGPoker players than ever make their way to the world’s biggest live poker tournament Leading online poker room GGPoker has committed to sending at least 600 players to the 2023 WSOP over the next six months in what organizers hope will be a record-breaking turnout.

The World Series of Poker is the world’s longest-running and most prestigious live tournament series. Its iconic $10,000 buy-in Main Event freeze-out tournament is always the pinnacle of the seven-week festival.

It typically attracts north of 6000 players, generating prize pools of $60 million or more and a first-place prize of over $8 million. The participation record was set in 2006 when Jamie Gold bested 8773 entrants to win a first-place prize of $12 million. But recently, organizers have gotten very close to attracting this turnout: The 2019 event attracted 8569 players, and last year fell just 111 short of besting the 17-year record.

For 2023, organizers of the 54th WSOP are doing everything they can to set a new record. And a large part of the effort is a pledge from their exclusive international partner, GGPoker, to give away 600 seats to the Main Event through online qualifiers and promotions. This is more than double the number of qualifiers it sent last year.

“With this year’s Road To Vegas, we’re going to see more GGPoker players than ever make their way to the world’s biggest live poker tournament,” a Paul Burke, Head of PR at GGPoker, told PRO in a statement. “We can’t wait to see some of them make their mark in Las Vegas this summer and become WSOP legends.”

“With the momentum generated from the WSOP’s debut on the Las Vegas Strip last year, we expect a record-breaking WSOP and World Championship at Paris and Horseshoe Las Vegas in 2023,” said Ty Stewart, SVP & Executive Director of the WSOP, in the press release revealing the schedule on Thursday. “If the Main Event is on your bucket list, this is the year to get to Vegas.”
