The Michigan Classic is Coming Back to PokerStars MI this Sunday The Michigan Classic is Coming Back to PokerStars MI this Sunday

Poker players in Michigan have something to get excited about this October: PokerStars MI has announced the return of Michigan Classic, a tournament that broke all records for the state in its first edition back in April.

Along with it, the operator is spreading big guaranteed satellites, promotions and a depositor freeroll to give everyone a shot at getting into the big tournament.

This time around, the Classic for Michigan online poker players comes with a reduced guaranteed prize pool of $250,000 and the same $300 buy-in that was featured in the inaugural event. It will start on Sunday, October 24 at 5 p.m. ET, with things wrapping up on Day Two held on Monday, October 25.

How Does the Michigan Classic Stack Up?

The second edition of the Michigan Classic will not be quite as lucrative as the first one: the guaranteed prize pool has been cut in half from the $500,000 that PokerStars offered back in April.

The reduction in the prize pool comes in not too much of a surprise, as the inaugural event drew in 1,551 entries; the operator had to compensate $65.6k in overlay.

Of course, this also means that the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool that’s offered this time around should be met with ease, although the winner is likely to take home less than the $76,000 that “moneydijon” took home on Easter Monday.

The tournament comes on the heels of the first PokerStars tournament series in Michigan, the MICOOP, which offered a total of $2 million in guaranteed prize pools across 60 tournaments.

The MICOOP Main Event was the biggest of the series and featured the same structure and $300 buy-in as the Michigan Classic, and a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool, which was blown out of the water when 1,284 total entries created a prize pool of close to $360,000.

A similar turnout can be expected for the Michigan Classic, with the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool likely to be shattered next Sunday.

Multiple Ways to Enter the Michigan Classic

Players interested in playing in the Michigan Classic have more than one option to get in on the event. The $300 buy-in fee is of course the most straightforward, but there are various other routes if your wallet can’t stretch that far.

Those who want to compete for their place in the Classic can do so by entering various satellites that PokerStars MI has in place, starting at just $15 buy-in.

In addition to these, $15,000 in Michigan Classic tickets will be given away in a Depositors’ Freeroll that’s scheduled for October 24. To enter this one, players need only deposit $30 or more using promo code CLASSIC21 and their seat in the Freeroll will be guaranteed.

Even more Michigan Classic tickets will be given away through $3 Spin & Go tournaments at the site, 2,500 tickets available in random Spin & Gos, along with various cash prizes.

Of course, it is also worth mentioning that new players who join PokerStars MI get to claim $50 in Free Play when they play just one hand of cash game poker, along with a valuable $600 welcome bonus that’s available to all first-time depositors on the site. You could then do a second deposit with the CLASSIC21 code to gain entry to the freeoll.

Michigan Classic runs this coming Sunday, October 24.
