Online poker giant PokerStars has announced that it has rescheduled WCOOP Main Events as part of a “new Championship Weekend“ series that will run the first weekend of November.

Last Sunday, on the final weekend of the WCOOP series, the operator was plagued with a massive outage hampering its services for 18 hours. Because of the outage, all the ongoing tournaments, including the three No-Limit Hold 'em WCOOP Main Events, were canceled.

A day later, the operator confirmed the outage was due to the Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and apologized to everyone affected.

While in the past, PokerStars has been a victim of such malicious attacks, it was the first time that it happened during a high-profile series leading to the cancelation of tournaments, including the Championship event.

“This past Sunday (September 25) was all set to be one of the biggest and best on the PokerStars calendar,” the operator wrote in a blog post. “But unfortunately, due to Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)* attacks resulting in temporary site outages, all games running on PokerStars had to be canceled.”
