#384 – Poker Cast 384 – The GPL with Alex Dreyfus

This week on the Pokercast: We have seen poker “leagues” come and go, but Alex Dreyfus has a vision that truly aims to be more successful than the rest. First, Terrence shares a bit of a trip report from Berlin and Adam updates us on his ticket status. This week in “In Case You Missed It”: WSOP Europe is under way and our own T Chan has been grinding. We run through the latest events, bracelet winners and get some first hand reports from our man. Other news includes Isildur crushing the highest stakes on stars, a Russian bill is introduced that will prohibit online gaming, Party Poker begins changes to protect its recreational players and more.

Alex Dreyfus joins us after the break to introduce the Global Poker League. We have talked about the league in past episodes but Alex joins us to give us the real scoop on what we can expect this year, and why he is invested in the idea that this league will be much more successful than past attempts to market poker to the main stream.

In the third segment we are joined by Lee Jones at Pokerstars who answers some questions about last time he was on regarding some issues in Barcelona, plus updates us on what to expect from knockout week and EPT Malta. After Lee we review an especially outlandish tweet from Daniel Negreanu in “140 or less” and dig into the Mailbag. We also review some Tournament hands in a variety of different games from Terrence and some cash game hands from Ross in the Rossco Report. To finish things off we share with you our favourite things and of course include the password to the Pokercast Invitational!
