This week I would like to welcome a new poker podcast to our directory and welcome back another that has been missing for a while during the conversion of its site.
Thinking Poker is a great new poker podcast hosted by Andrew “Foucault” Brokos and Nate Meyvis. The show is unlike most other podcasts on the topic of poker. Yes, for the most part the content is strategy-based and they welcome guests from the poker world, but Thinking Poker has a very different feel from most other strategy driven poker podcasts.
The level to which the discussions reach go beyond those I’ve encountered in other shows and are more holistic in nature. Not all of the podcast is poker strategy: The guys also touch on topics that in life and in many instances relate decision-making to the decisions made in poker.
The show has a “public radio” feel and incorporates some cool music too. I highly recommend adding Thinking Poker to your regular poker podcast listening queue, I have. And since the show is new (only three episodes so far) go back and catch up from the beginning. This week the guest on Thinking Poker is Jason “strassa2″ Strasser. The previous guests were Tommy Angelo and Shane “Shaniac” Schleger.
After a short hiatus, DonkDown Radio is back in the Directory. The DonkDown web site has transitioned to DonkDown 2.0. During the rebuilding of the site the show was temporarily absent from the Directory, but episodes from the last couple of months are back. We are still waiting for all of the archives to be fully restored. There are some real gems in there and we hope to have them back for you soon.
Be sure to catch this week’s episode. It’s just over an hour long, covers many topics in the poker world and Micon does a great job with a prank call to the Bellagio poker room to give them grief over allowing Howard Lederer to play on their property.
Speaking of Lederer, if you are interested in the continued dissection of his public comments, be sure to catch this week’s episode of Rabbit Hunt. Mark and Matt discuss the Diamond Flush articles that analyze the PokerNews interview and the 2+2 Pokercast interview. Though the analysis of articles that analyze other interviews might sound a bit out there, I recommend you check it out, it’s more interesting than it sounds. The guys also take a look at Haralabob’s recent blog post Heroes and Villains in Poker.
That’s all for this week. As usual, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other poker podcasts for my listening pleasure.
