New Additions to the Podcast Directory: This Week in Poker Podcasts New Additions to the Podcast Directory: This Week in Poker Podcasts

It’s been a month since I last brought you a review of poker podcasts. Whether busy, lazy or otherwise, I am glad to be back telling all of you about the great selection of poker podcasts available in our directory.

Since my last review we have added a couple of new shows: one of which is The Itsawinner Poker Podcast. Itsawinner is based in the UK and has a very different feel than most of the other selections in the directory. Hosted by Mal255 and GDog1966, the show is down to earth, has a strong community vibe and is both entertaining and informative.

The show provides a fan’s perspective of the poker world but unlike some of the other shows that also take a spectator’s angle, Itsawinner goes the extra mile to present their audience accurate and credible information. Perhaps I am biased because the episodes that I have listened to have featured news from pokerfuse quite prominently. However, they don’t present their own interpretation of the facts as I have noticed in some other shows. They read directly from the sources where they get their information—increasing the accuracy— and they even go out of their way to give credit to the authors of the articles they are reporting on.

In addition, they have a strong understanding of the context in which current news items are reported. This makes their discussions and opinions on the current events interesting and relevant. All of this along with the upbeat and open style of Itsawinner makes it a very strong poker podcast.

Another new addition to the directory since my last report is the yet untitled podcast from PokerFraudAlert.com. The show debuted its pilot episode earrier this week, but several preliminary shows are available in the directory.

The show features Todd “Dan Druff” Witteles, Brandon “Drexel” Gerson and a rare female co-host only referred to as “Vwls.” Due to what seemed to be a last minute conformation of Vwls, the show ditched its former name and was asking for suggestions for its listeners to name the show. Having discovered on air that all three of the hosts were Jewish, they quickly looked to add that element to the naming of the show. If you are easily offended by non-politically correct comments, you best tread lightly through the latest episode, but I personally found the banter and commentary hilarious.

Those that consume other poker podcasts will likely recognize the hosts as former Donk Down personalities with appearances on Filthy Limper as well. These guys (not sure about Vwls) are no beginners to poker podcasts and it shows. Now keep in mind that the show is recorded live and doesn’t go through post-production so don’t expect top notch production quality, but the crew sure knows how to make listening an entertaining experience. The guys are well informed and experienced Vegas personalities both on and off the felt and though I don’t know much about Vwls, she is very easy on the ears.

The guys that do Rabbit Hunt are back from a short hiatus of their own. This week’s show is solid again as usual. They discuss US legislative topics and the money grab in Spain. Not much more to say other than to make sure to give them a listen.

The show that I most wanted to listen to but did not is 2GuysTalkingPoker. The couple of episodes that I have listened to since first discovering their show have been very good. This week they have 2004 World Series of Poker Champion Greg Raymer as a guest. I will likely listen to this show before I dive into the new slate of shows that have already started coming out for the upcoming week.

That’s all for this week. As usual, feel free to leave your own reviews, rip on mine, or suggest other poker podcasts for my listening pleasure.
