A group of leaders from 12 conservative and libertarian organizations, led by political advocate Grover Norquist, sent a letter to congressional leaders opposing a federal ban on online gaming.

Advocating for state’s rights under the 10th amendment, the letter attacks the Restoration of America’s Wire Act initiative and ensures the leaders of the House and Senate that such an encroachment on state’s rights is unnecessary as state governments are already proficient at regulating gambling within their borders.

Furthermore, The Casino Association of New Jersey has passed a resolution that also opposes RAWA. The group which consists of multiple directors of the American Gaming Association urges the New Jersey congressional leaders to pass legislation opposing RAWA and preserving the states authority to regulate Internet gambling.

These latest objections to RAWA follow a similar attack last week by former US Congressman and two time Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul. However, a Washington Post article published late last week explored rumors swirling around the hill that Adelson is orchestrating a deal between current Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Speaker of the house John Boehner to have RAWA attached to must-pass spending legislation during the lame duck session of Congress. Keep an eye on the space.
