Microgaming Announces The Phantom of the Opera Themed Slot

Fans of the French novel The Phantom of the Opera, written by Gaston Leroux, will soon be able to enjoy the iconic opera-themed plot in the form of an online slot game by Microgaming.

Actually, the new game is based on the 2004 musical of the same name that featured Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum and Minnie Driver and was directed by Joel Schumacher. In turn, the film was based on the 1986 adaptation of the famous novel by famed English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Webber’s musical stage production has played in front of audiences in 166 cities in 35 countries around the world. More than 140 million people have enjoyed the live performances that generated an estimated $6 billion. Critically acclaimed, the musical won 70 major theatre awards.

The movie grossed more than $154 million from countries across the globe during its run which featured popular musical arrangements such as the title song The Phantom of the Opera and other fan favorite songs such as The Music of the Night and All I Ask of You.

Characters from the film along with some of the songs that made it famous will be featured in the new slot game. There will even be original footage from the film incorporated into the game to provide a more solid connection to fans of the film that have discovered the new game.

David Reynolds, Games Publisher at Microgaming, had the following to say about Microgaming’s new signing: “The Phantom of the Opera has had unequivocal success, played to over 140 million people worldwide! It’s exciting to be working with a musical, a new genre of branded content for Microgaming, extending and broadening our portfolio of games. Due out in Q3, this game will be a true celebration of the world’s biggest opera, balancing a healthy mix of base game features with a feature-packed free spins round.”

Many titles by Microgaming as well as free slot machine games can be played at various online casino sites across the internet.

Microgaming announced that it had entered into a licensing agreement with The Really Useful Group earlier this month. The new slot game is scheduled to be released later in the year.

Also earlier this month, Microgaming took home an award at the 10th International Gaming Awards held in London.

Microgaming was awarded top honors in the category of Mobile Product. In 2004, Microgaming became the first online gaming operator to develop mobile casino software. Since then, the company has gone on to create the largest selection of mobile titles with more than 350 games to choose from and new ones being released on a monthly basis.

“We are very proud to win the award for Mobile Product. We predicted that mobile would be the future of gaming back in 2004 when we created the world’s first mobile casino software, and we haven’t looked back,” Roger Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, said about the award.

“The platform is thriving and it is very much the future of our industry, with even more growth to come,” Raatgever continued. “It is great to receive recognition for our hard work and to be viewed by the industry as having the best mobile product out there. This is the perfect way to start what is sure to be the most incredible ICE Totally Gaming for Microgaming!”

In August of last year, Microgaming awarded the largest mobile jackpot ever. The €7,968,311.26 payout was won at Microgaming’s progressive jackpot slot Mega Moolah.
