Online poker cash game traffic in New Jersey has been climbing since the beginning of November.

According to data from pokerfuse PRO, provided by PokerScout, the seven day moving average for cash game traffic in the state bottomed out on Halloween when it hit 277 concurrent cash game players. Since then, it has been rising fairly steadily—while there have been dips along the way, since October 31 the market as a whole has gained more than 20% in traffic.

The gains would have even been higher if it wasn’t for a bad last seven days in which the market had its worst week in the lst six. Over that time, the market lost an average of 26 concurrently cash game players, representing more than a 7% drop.

Projections for the New Jersey Online Poker Market

Overall, the market still has a long way to go to catch up to its peak of an average of more than 600 concurrent cash game players which it reached in January 2014.

In addition to unrealistic initial projections, a recent report by the Eilers Research, LLC points to fragmented marketing efforts as a contributing factor to a low adoption rate of igaming in general in the state of New Jersey.

On the bright side, in its prediction of the future for the New Jersey igaming market, Eilers Research assumes that PokerStars will become licensed in early 2015, which will contribute to the marginal growth of the online poker market.
