The US Patent Office (USPTO) has issued a final rejection of a fast-fold poker patent action originally filed for Full Tilt’s Rush Poker.

When the Rational Group bought Full Tilt Poker’s assets they acquired the pending patent application—“Player-Entry Assignment and Ordering” US 20110177863.

This described the fast fold poker game now familiar in its Rush Poker and Zoom Poker implementations.

Acceptance of the patent would have put Rational Group in a powerful position, as almost all other major networks have adopted the format. The rise of mobile devices has contributed to the expansion of fast fold poker, as many more hands per hour can be played on a single table.

The Rational Group will now not be able to take legal action on the basis of this patent against other companies using the format—at least not in the US. An earlier patent application, also for fast fold poker, remains under examination.
