New Jersey Online Poker Players Have a New Way to Self-Exclude New Jersey Online Poker Players Have a New Way to Self-Exclude

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) announced on Thursday that it has added a new option for those wishing to exclude themselves from online gambling sites in New Jersey including online poker.

Starting today, individuals seeking to voluntarily have themselves banned from participating in online gambling can register directly on the DGE website, or at NJPortal.com. Previously, people were required to open an online gaming account in order to self-exclude online. In person self-exclusion was (and still is) also available at a DGE office or racetracks around the state.

Individuals interested in self-excluding online can do so without leaving their home, but are required to answer a series of questions to confirm their identity, and agree to the terms set forth. Options are available for a one-year or five-year self-exclusion term. Self-exclusion for land-based casinos in the state still requires individuals to apply in person.

“The Division of Gaming Enforcement has one of the most comprehensive responsible gaming programs in the country,” said Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck. “We strive to be innovative and remain at the forefront of Internet gaming regulation while giving individuals options to play online responsibly, or opt out if that is the right choice for them.”
