Delaware Senate to Vote on Online Gambling Bill

The Delaware Executive Senate Committee approved a bill that would authorize the state lottery to offer online gaming within the state. The bill now proceeds to a full vote of the State Senate which is on the agenda for Tuesday June 26.

House Bill 333 would legalize various forms of gambling, including online poker, slots, blackjack and other casino games. The bill would also allow bars and restaurants to offer NFL football parlay wagering.

Last week the bill was amended to provide additional revenue to both horse racing and harness racing operators. In addition, the amendment mandated the sale of pre-paid cards sold by lottery agents as a method of players funding their online accounts.

If passed by the Senate, the bill could find its way to the Governor’s desk and be signed by the end of the month. Governor Jack Markell’s administration originally pitched the concept of online gambling to state legislators back in April.
