PokerStars Reduces Supernova Elite Value by 5%
Key Takeaways
  • Those who make it in 2014 will still be rewarded the tickets, and they can be used in next year’s event.
  • Larger changes may come for 2016.
  • UK players would see further reductions to the VIP program in 2015 as a result of new UK regulation, which comes into effect on November 1.

PokerStars has informed players that for 2015, rewards for Supernova Elite (SNE) will be reduced by $5200, representing approximately a 5% reduction in rewards for its highest VIP tier.

Specifically, the $5200 in free tournament tickets that can be used in WCOOP, SCOOP or TCOOP events will no longer be awarded to players making SNE in 2015. Those who achieve SNE in 2014 will still be rewarded the tickets, and they can be used in next year’s event.

With SNE’s receiving over $100,000 in VIP benefits, the reduction represents just a 5% decrease, and with less than 400 players achieving SNE each year only a tiny portion of its player base will be affected.
