WSOP Global Casino Championship Finale in North Carolina WSOP Global Casino Championship Finale in North Carolina

Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort will play host once again to the WSOP Global Casino Championships, August 9 – 11. It will run in conjunction with the first WSOP Circuit Event of the 2016-17 season that runs from August 4-16, 2016.

The WSOP Global Casino Championships (formerly the WSOP National Championship) has an estimated prize pool of more than $1 Million and there will be 100 players automatically qualifying, and in doing so they will have avoided paying the $10,000 buy-in.

The 100 qualifying players will be made up from winners of the WSOP Circuit Main Event stops (both from international and US stops), and the Casino Champions (players who have accrued the most leaderboard points) from each stop will earn a seat as well. The remaining spots will be filled by qualifiers who amassed the most Circuit points on the leaderboard throughout the season.

In addition, the top 100 players in the WSOP world rankings are eligible to “buy” a place at the Global Casino Championship for $10,000, rake-free. And for the first time, any player who has won an official ring event on the WSOP Circuit this season also has the chance to pay for a seat. All buy-ins collected will be added to the $1 million prize pool.

“It’s a blast”

“The 2015 National Championship was a blast for us and we’re excited that the World Series of Poker is ramping up the game this year,” said Brooks Robinson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Harrah’s Cherokee.

“Not only do we get to welcome in players from around the world, but we also get to help kick off the 2016-17 Circuit season.”

All the action will be televised, so even if you can’t be there in person you can still be part of it.

The event follows the completion of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

The WSOP is offering satellite tournaments live in Las Vegas, and official online satellites are available through WSOP.com and preferred partners, such as 888. However, many sites are giving away trips to Las Vegas this summer that coincide with the Series, but they just do not use the official WSOP name in their promotions.

People in Europe, South America, and even Asia have the opportunity to win their way to Las Vegas this summer by playing internet poker.

The premiere poker series runs from May 31 to July 18, 2016 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.
