Germany’s Martin Finger was crowned the champion of the European Poker Tour (EPT) £50k Super High Roller event on Sunday.

Finger bested the field of 57 entries (41 unique players, 16 re-entrys) for a payday of £821,000 ($1,321,317), the trophy and his 2nd Shamballa Jewels bracelet worth £10,000.

The victory puts Finger in elite company as being one of the only players to win both an EPT Main Event—he was victorious at EPT Prague back in 2011—as well as an EPT High Roller event. According to the PokerStars Blog, the only other two players to perform such a feat are Team PokerStars Pros Jason Mercier and Bertrant “ElkY” Grospellier. Additionally, this pushes Finger up over $3.5m in worldwide tournament winnings since 2010.

Finger wasn’t the only German in contention at the final table as four of the final eight players hailed from Germany, including Tobias Reinkemeier, who finished 2nd to Finger for £593,900 and Christoph Vogelsang who took 3rd for £383,200.

As would be expected for a tournament with a small exclusive player base, the final table was packed with big names. Before Finger would hoist the trophy he had to battle through the bust outs of Patrik Antonius, 2013 November Niner David Benefield, Canada’s Timothy Adams, Jonannes Strassmann and the likable businessman turned shot taker, Bill Perkins.

Even though Finger entered the final table with a healthy chip lead, he was thankful to get the victory in the end.

“I thought I had a pretty good chance to win and finally I did… It feels awesome. The field of a Super High Roller is so tough; tough to beat all of them in one tournament.” Finger commented to the PokerStars Blog.
