HM2 Ends iPhone App, Pushes HM Cloud as Replacement

The Hold’Em Manager 2 (HM2) iPhone app will be discontinued from August 1, as the company promotes its web-based tracking solution, HM Cloud.

Even though HM Cloud is still in early release and has limited availability, the company has decided that it’s the right way to go: “HM Cloud Alpha has significantly more functionality than the HM2 iPhone App and more is being rolled out in HM Cloud Alpha over the next few months.”

The cloud technology removes the need for players to run a local database. The HM Cloud download client only has two functions—to send hand histories to the server and to receive and display HUD statistics. Reporting and graphing is all done through a web browser.

Given its alpha status, HM Cloud is not open to the public, and interested testers must join a waiting list. This restriction should be lifted in time for iOS users to move over to the Cloud.
