No-limit hold’em bot PokerSnowie, which boasts “near-perfect” game-theory optimal play, is currently beating challengers at a win rate of about 25 big blinds every 100 hands (bb/100).
That is according to the developer’s own numbers, which it is publishing in near-real time on its blog.
The data comes from a new “Challenge” feature in the software, which debuted last week. It allows players to play up to two tables of no-limit against the engine in heads up, 6-max or full ring tables. All hands played are automatically uploaded to the system, allowing you to immediately analyze your play and spot what Snowie sees as mistakes and blunders.
But the results of these hands are also being aggregated by the developers, and the overall results of everyone who has played against Snowie are being published right on the website. At the time of writing, 180,000 hands have been played, and Snowie has a handsome win rate of +24.2bb/100.
Right now the data is not broken down into game types—so it is not clear how much is heads up vs ring games, and the sample size is not large enough to conclusively tell Snowie’s winrate. But even with those caveats, such a high win rate is an impressive feat; if it stays this high, it will go a long way in answering one of the biggest questions: Is Snowie as good as it claims to be?
PokerSnowie is a study tool that centers around hand analysis and review. You can import hands from real-money sessions played online or construct your own scenarios. The engine then analyzes the hands and points out mistakes and blunders giving you recommendations for each action on each street of the hand, including the EV (expected value) of each decision.
