Key Takeaways
  • 888 noses ahead of Party for the first time in history.
  • 888 has grown over the last year, while party has seen a 20% decline.

888poker has nosed ahead of PartyPoker to become the fourth largest online poker network worldwide, the first time in history that 888 has overtaken the one-time online poker giant.

The data is based on a 7-day moving average of active seats filled in cash game tables, based on data provided by independent monitor PokerScout and shown above via pokerfuse PRO (full size version available here).

As of today, PartyPoker has a 7-day average of 2025 players, compared to 2062 at 888.

Party has seen seen a traffic decline over the last six months which has outpaced the market’s standard seasonal drop. Year on year it is down approximately 20%, as it seeks to find its footing and return to growth with the at-times controversial focus on recreational players.

888poker, on the other hand, is up 9% on the year. Though it has also been affected by the natural decline during the spring period, it has outpaced the international market and has maintained traffic over the last two months.

The last year has seen a number of changes in the top five. The perennial battle between iPoker and PartyPoker for second place was finally put to rest with the introduction of Full Tilt, which immediately jumped to second place.

Its dominance did not last. PartyPoker got into striking distance in December 2012 following the merger of bwin.com players onto the network, and the fight continued into the new year.

By March, FTP temporarily slipped behind both iPoker and PartyPoker, although regained the second place spot and maintained it since April thanks to a string of successful promotions.

Only 15% now separates the second through fifth online poker networks.
