- Limit Hold’em heads up cash games and all HU SNGs remain.
888poker has removed all no-limit hold’em and PLO heads-up cash games from its online poker client.
“In keeping with our strategy to make our poker room competitive and fun, the decision [has] been made to remove the heads up cash games,” an official representative posted on the 2+2 poker forums Sunday.
Although the announcement suggests all heads up cash games will be removed, at the time of writing LHE tables across all stakes were still available.
HU SNGs will also remain, with buyins up to $2000 available.
Many networks have taken steps in the last year to try to resolve what some players and operators see as a “predatory” problem in heads-up cash games. Microgaming removed all heads up cash games and replaced them with an 8-man fast-fold heads up variant. iPoker introduced “heads up hogging prevention” that monitors players sitting inactively at heads up tables. Both PartyPoker and iPoker have implemented caps on the number of heads up tables a player can sit at.
PokerStars is “firmly convinced” that a match-making style system is needed to replace the traditional lobby, although changes have not yet been made. Full Tilt is one of the few to remain neutral on the issue.
For a long time heads up tables on 888 have been suppressed in the client. A “show heads up tables” filter needed to be selected to make them visible, and the option is disabled by default.
